I didn’t sign up for adulthood, I want a refund!

This unwelcome visitor
eventually comes calling;
with a truckload of aches
and wrinkles it’s hauling.

First comes hair loss;
then decline in hearing.
‘Mr. Magoo’ was funny;
but blind isn’t endearing.

As youth abandons us;
memories soon will fade.
Chronic pain is no ‘guest’.
Arthritis, we must wade.

Delivered with punctuality;
or indiscriminate neutrality.
Wisdom comes at a cost;
independence will be lost.

The only condition worse
than the ravages of age;
is when the ‘book of life’
has ran out of new pages.
